Caledonia Fire is currently accepting applications for Paid-on-Call and Part-Time firefighters.

Paid-on-Call/Part-Time Firefighters

Paid-on-Call/Part-time firefighters must live or work within the proximity of the station, and have a State of Michigan Firefighter I and II certification, and Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) license.

For individuals that do not have the required credentials yet, Caledonia Fire Department will put you through all training necessary to become a firefighter at no cost to the individual such as:

  • Firefighter I and II - course consists of a minimum of 242 hours that will last approximately 8 to 9 months.
  • Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - course consists of 194 hours that will last approximately 6 months.

Paid-on-Call/Part-time firefighters are expected to respond to a minimum percentage of paid-on-call response incidents and/or minimum hours of shift work each month.
