Fire Hydrant
Can the Fire Department get to the closest hydrant? Look and see! Fire Hydrants are required to be clear from vegetation and snow at a minimum of 3 feet around the hydrant and from the front all the way to the roadway. If the hydrant is on your property, it is your responsibility to keep it clear.

Assuring Adequate Driveway Clearance for Fire Department
Not many homeowners often consider the idea of making a driveway accessible to Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) vehicles. However, when an emergency strikes, quickly getting a truck close to home is critical. Please do your part in assuring we can get to you and your family in your time of need. The current ordinance adopted by the Township of Caledonia is as follows:
- Driveways: Minimum clearance of 20 feet wide and 14 feet vertically
- Private Streets: Minimum clearance of 30 feet wide and 14 feet vertically
