Public Protection Classification (PPC)
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) concluded its review of the fire suppression features being provided for/by Caledonia Township in 2013. The resulting community classification is Class 5/10. This Classification is a split class (e.g. 5/10) therefore the following applies:
- The first class (e.g., "5" in a 5/10 applies to properties within five road miles of a recognized fire station and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant or alternate water supply
- Alternate Water Supply: The first class (e.g., "5" in a 5/10 applies to properties within five road miles of a recognized fire station and with no hydrant distance requirement.
- Class 10 applies to properties over five road miles of a recognized fire station.
- Some insurance providers may grant the homeowner a class 5 even if the residence is located outside of the five road miles based on our Auto Aid agreements with adjoining Township Fire Departments.
Please contact Fire Chief Scott Siler if you would like a letter explaining our Auto Aid agreements that can be submitted to your insurance provider. He can be reached via email or phone.
