Public Protection Classification (PPC)

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) concluded its review of the fire suppression features being provided for/by Caledonia Township in 2013. The resulting community classification is Class 5/10. This Classification is a split class (e.g. 5/10) therefore the following applies:

• The first class (e.g., "5" in a 5/10 applies to properties within five road miles of a recognized fire station and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant or alternate water supply
  • Alternate Water Supply: The first class (e.g., "5" in a 5/10 applies to properties within five road miles of a recognized fire station and with no hydrant distance requirement.
• Class 10 applies to properties over five road miles of a recognized fire station. 
  • Some insurance providers may grant the homeowner a class 5 even if the residence is located outside of the five road miles based on our Auto Aid agreements with adjoining Township Fire Departments.
